Stars Rooftop & Grill Room is the recipient of many national accolades, including being named one of America’s coolest rooftop bars by Travel + Leisure Magazine. The roof top has 360-degree views of downtown Charleston and is surrounded by sea grass planters filled with fresh herbs and a reclaimed Tigerwood bar.
Quality Electric of the Coastal Carolinas, Inc. served as the general contractor for the building’s renovation in 2012. On the rooftop, crews installed pendant fixtures, emergency lights and low-voltage lighting in planters.
What made this project unique
Working at a rooftop bar presents it’s own unique challenges.
It required close coordination and planning with other trades such as roofer, carpentry and landscapers. The low voltage drivers for the LV in the planters had to be mounted in the ceiling of the second floor which meant the wiring had to penetrate the roof and be properly sealed from the weather.
